fadg away

two months ago,

I was afraid this would happen.


I held the thought

like it was permanent.


but everything leaves,

doesn’t it?


the anger from five minutes ago,

the thing I swore I’d never forgive,

the ache I thought would stay forever,

gone.


not dramatically.

not with a goodbye.


just quietly,

while I was busy becoming someone else.


maybe that is the strangest thing

about being alive:


how something can feel

like the whole world

until it doesn’t.


how we keep breaking ourselves

over things

that were already
