Attire Worn

This orthodox tradition imposes such a crushing burden, leaving you tangled in confusion about what to wear, what to say, and what to expect from those around you. The weight of societal expectations presses down on you, fueling anxiety as you strive to navigate this rigid world. It's suffocating, with no clear escape route in sight.

"Your dress is too short, the neckline too deep, please adjust it, it's backless", the taunts and criticism every girl endures from our judgmental society. A girl, be it a teenager or a woman in her twenties, joyfully dons her elegant attire, hoping for compliments, only to be met with scorn and ridicule, driving her back to her room in tears, her makeup smudged.

It's ironic how older women and aunties can flaunt revealing sarees with half their bodies exposed, yet feel entitled to pass judgment on young girls. This hypocrisy is brutal in our society, and it fills me with distressed rage.

And let's talk about men, how they look at women, making comments about their attire. The continuation of such behaviour into criminal acts is appalling. Regardless of a girl's clothing choices, men and boys need to understand that it's normal, and that girl could be their sister, friend, mother, aunt, or any other loved one.

Respect for women dignity should always prevail over objectification and degradation. No matter what a girl wears, says, or aspires to be, she deserves unwavering respect and should never be made to feel inferior. Let's live with pride in ourselves, with our dignity held high as the most sacred treasure.
